Academic Support Services

The Upward Learning Program addresses cognitive, auditory, and visual processing deficits. Taking time out of the regular classroom setting, students work with a dedicated teacher to progress on an individualized learning plan. (Please inquire with the elementary principal on availability per grade level.)

Students in Northlake’s Gifted Program enjoy an advanced and dynamic individualized class structure in a small group setting. Students are excused from their regular social studies class weekly to participate in the Gifted enrichment. Project-based, critical thinking curriculum mapping complements in-class curriculum and is designed to challenge the creative thinker.

Northlake teachers are available for after-school tutoring to assist students who need extra support in a particular subject. Please reach out to the elementary office for details on availability and fees.

To help meet the diverse needs of our students, Northlake partners with qualified outside providers who offer on-campus services such as speech therapy, occupational therapy, and dyslexia services during the course of the school day. Please reach out to Northlake’s elementary counselors for additional information. (Services are billed by individual providers.)

Directed studies is an elective course designed to develop skills and provide strategies for study habits, organization and accountability.

Intensive courses are offered in English and math. Students will attend the regular on-level class alongside their peers on instructional days, and then participate in a dedicated support class on alternating days. This approach allows students to benefit from the exposure to grade-level instruction, while also receiving targeted intervention, reteaching, and guided practice based on individual academic needs.

Our National Honor Society students provide free tutoring during every study hall period in the Wolverine Den. Peer tutors are also available during every class period to support homeschool students and any full-time students who need additional academic assistance.
