Helping Secondary Students Achieve Academic Success
Regarded as a high school elective for which 7th- 12th grade students may receive academic credit, Directed Studies provides intensive support in what amounts to a professional mentor relationship. Students gain a personal educational advocate and are empowered by a qualified professional through a curriculum focused upon study skills, organization and accountability. The teacher may provide some intervention and remediation, serves as a classroom advocate, and may prescribe and monitor limited, specific accommodations or curricular modifications. The goal? Classroom success and independent learning skills to support a successful college or university experience.
A secondary elective, offered to NCS students as part of their curriculum. This is hands-on group program involving 2-3 students who require specialized support to be successful in their academic program(s).
