Application Process

STEP 1 – Visit NCS


STEP 2 - Gather Your Documents and Information

(These will be uploaded during the application process. You can scan them as a PDF or take a picture and submit online as a JPG)

RECORDS

  • Birth Certificate for TK and K Applicants (to verify age)

ACADEMIC RECORDS

  • Up to date grades from current year (1st Grade Only)
  • Grades from previous year and up-to-date grades from current year (Grades 2nd -11th)
  • Most recent standardized test scores (Grades 1st-11th) such as ERB, Stanford, LEAP, ACT Aspire, PARCC, TerraNova
  • 10th and 11th grade applicants should submit their most recent ACT score, if available.
  • Please note that as a general rule, NCS does not accept incoming seniors, with the rare exception due to extenuating circumstances.

RECOMMENDATION FORMS

  • KINDERGARTEN and TK APPLICANTS - Current PK Teacher will complete referral online, so please have their email address available. 
  • 1st-11th GRADE APPLICANTS:  Recommendations are emailed directly to the following, so please have their email addresses available. 
    • Teacher Recommendation (Math or English teacher required for 7th-11th grade applicants)
    • Principal or other Administrator Recommendation (Principal, School Counselor, Assistant Principal, etc, that who knows the applicant well enough to complete a recommendation)
    • Pastor or other Mentor (Pastor, Youth Pastor or other Adult Non-Family member who knows the applicant well enough to complete a recommendation)

 

QUESTIONNAIRES

  • PARENT QUESTIONNAIRE - Parents will complete a questionnaire about their students during the application process.
  • STUDENT QUESTIONNAIRE - 5th-11th grade applicants will complete a student questionnaire. This should be completed by the student (not the parent.)

STEP 3 – Apply Online

  • Visit www.northlakechristian.org/apply
  • Create an online application account using your email.
  • Apply Online - you will upload the documents listed above during the application process.
  • Application Fee - $125 (Paypable online via ACH or Credit Card at the end of the application process)

STEP 4 – Entrance Testing

1st-11th Grade Applicants

  • All 1st-11th Grade applicants will complete a STAR Reading and Math Screening for their entrance test. We cannot schedule any testing until your application is complete and submitted.
  • SATURDAY TEST DATES ARE AS FOLLOWS. All tests are from 9:00-10:30am except the March 5 test.

    • Saturday, December 16
    • Saturday, January 27
    • Monday, January 29
    • Saturday, February 24
    • Monday, March 5 (1:00-2:30pm)
    • Saturday, March 24
  • ​​​​​​​Applications received after March 24 will be tested individually.
  • You will be prompted to schedule your child's test at the conclusion of the application.
  • The Admissions Office and Principals determine whether your child's score on the entrance test is satisfactory enough to proceed with the next step in the Admissions process.

TK and K Applicants

  • All students will be screened by teh current Kindergarten teachers, beginning in Spring, 2018.
  • Our Lower School administrative office will reach out to you directly to schedule your child's screening with the Kindergarten teachers.
  • Screening determines correct placement (TK or K).

STEP 5 – Parent and Student Interview

  • Once your child's satisfactory entrance test scores are processed and all recommendations are received, we will schedule your interview with the appropriate Division Principal. 
  • Interviews last approximately 30 minutes. The Principal will visit with both the parent(s) and the student(s).

 

STEP 6 – Admissions Criteria and Decisions

  • TK and K applicants must be five years old by September 30th of the school year.
  • TK and K applicants must have a satisfactory screening as determined by the Kindergarten teachers, Lower School Academic Dean and Principal.
  • 5th-11th Grade applicants must have a minimum of 2.3 GPA on their most recent report cards. 
  • 1st-11th Grade applicants must have a qualifying score on the STAR Reading and Math assessments.
  • All students must have a record of good behavior and attendance from their previous school, as well as satisfactory recommendations from their Teacher, Principal/Administrator and Pastor/Character reference.
  • All applicants must have a satisfactory parent/student interview with the Principal.
  • The Director of Enrollment and Principals reserve the right to determine whether or not the family/student is mission appropriate.

STEP 7 – Offer of Enrollment

If youc child is accepted, you will receive an Offer of Enrollment via email.

The offer of enrollment will contain instructions on how to set up your Renweb account and complete your online enrollment and contract. 

All new applications must be submitted with a $325 non-refundable enrollment fee which is payable online (ACH or Credit Card) at the end of the process.

You must accept your student's offer of enrollment within two weeks of notification; otherwise you will jeopordize your child's placement.​​​​​​​
