Dr. Betty Porter, Upper School Math

Dr. Porter began teaching in 1970 and has her undergraduate degree from Southeastern Louisiana University, her MS in Math Education from Loyola, and her Ph.D. in Educational Administration from UNO. She and her husband Dave are new horse owners and farmers. Her daughter Laura, teaches in our ELC.

What made you want to come teach at Northlake? I have worked with principals here at Northlake for a long time and have a great deal of respect for the work you do here.

Where do you and your family worship? Northshore Bible Church

If you are driving down the interstate singing at the top of your lungs, what's on the radio? Any of Rich Mullins songs. He is my favorite Christian artist.

What would you choose for your last meal? Filet, spaghetti and Cheese and green beans

What's a fun fact about Dr. Porter? I like to cook, sew and ride motorcycles, horses and four wheelers.

Why is Christian education so important? To further God's kingdom and to give students tools they need to continue to grow in their Christian walk.

Amy Cheramie, Lower School Teacher

4th Grade English Language Arts

Mrs. Cheramie has her B.S. in Education from Samford University and taught last year at Manara Academy. She is a 2010 Alum of NCS. She and her husband Caden have a daughter in the ELC, Harper Joy.

What made you want to come to Northlake? I am an alumni of Northlake, and I love the family atmosphere it provides. There is such a special bond between the staff, and the Christian atmosphere makes working here so unique compared to anywhere else.

What will we find you singing at the top of your lungs? Anything by the BackStreet Boys or N*Sync!

What would you choose for your last meal? Spaghetti and Meatballs with garlic butter biscuits and Berry La Croix!

Fun Fact about Mrs. Cheramie: She once earned a black belt in karate!

Why is Christian Education so important? It allows children to learn about the world we live in through the eyes of Jesus. They are able to see how the Creator of all things fashioned every detail of this world together for His ultimate glory. I believe children need to be prepared to understand the "why" behind their faith in Jesus, and having concrete evidence through Christian education can help prepare them to dive deeper into their faith.

Welcome Mrs. Cheramie (back) to Northlake! acheramie@northlakechristian.org
